Hard to keep the peace in countries with filthy public toilets - UL lecturer

University of Limpopo water and sanitation lecturer, Trevor Mulaudzi, has gotten himself a nickname, 'Mr Shit', for advocating and working in projects cleaning toilets.

Mulaudzi is also the vice president for World Toilet Association based in South Korea, which promotes decency of public toilets across the world.

He says without the political will which maintains public toilets in good condition, it is very difficult to maintain peace.

In countries where public toilets are filthy it is very difficult to maintain peace in countries with filthy toilets.

We are using toilets to promote peace and harmony in the world. And we have been very successful.

He says in South Korea they have a Minister of Public Toilet - and the Public Toilet Act discussed in every sitting.

So that they don't throw away human waste into drinking water. It's because politicians understand what it means to have cleaning drinking water, and what it means for the prosperity of the country.

If you are drinking polluted water, even when it is clear, it doesn't mean it is clean. You are compromising your health and your capacity to think.
