Johannesburg to get Africa’s first smartphone factory

Onyx Connect says it will create 600 jobs and make a smartphone in Johannesburg for about R415.

Onyx Connect, a start-up from Johannesburg, will soon become the first company to make smartphones in Africa.

The company says it can make a smartphone in Johannesburg for about R415 ($30).

The project will create 600 jobs.
