Amazon pilots supermarkets with no cashiers or checkout points

E-commerce giant Amazon has launched their first cashier-free grocery store in the United States.

The concept sees a physical grocery store that let's shoppers pick up their groceries and walk out without having to queue up and pay at the checkout counter.

The new convenience store, called Amazon Go is being tested in Seattle and is being tested on Amazon employees before being opened to the public early next year.

WATCH: Amazon's video explains exactly how the concept works

Tech expert Arthur Goldstuck explains that consumers will swipe their mobile devices on a scanner which picks up your Amazon account as scanned items are taken off of the shelves.

It automatically gets added to your basket as you take it off the shelves.

As you leave, it will then check you out on the app on your phone and bill the Amazon account.

Goldstuck says there may be some challenges, including increased store traffic confusing the technology and incorrect billing.
