Uber allays fears of new app tracking update

The latest Uber application update of term and conditions allows Uber to track the user even after they have completed a trip.

Alon Lits, GM at Uber Sub-Saharan Africa, says the new update is 'not a big secret that Uber is hiding from its users'. He says it is an update that allows Uber to track the user for only five minutes after their trip and not indefinitely.

The intention behind this is to improve the pick up experience.

If a user doesn't want Uber to track them after their ride Litts says they can simply turn off their location settings.

The information gathered is kept in line with all privacy regulation and data storage regulations.

This is not to encroach on people's privacy but to use the information in a productive way.
