EWN Monique Mortlock shares the big stories of 2016 with CapeTalk's John Maytham.
One of the most heart wrenching stories for her was the death of 7-month old baby Inganathi in Philippi. She had been beaten to death by mom Andisiwe Mnandi's ex-boyfriend.
Another shocking story Mortlock covered was the rape and murder of 19-year-old Sinoxolo Mafevuka in March this year in Khayelitsha which occurred at the same time as the rape and murder of another young girl Franziska Blochlinger in Tokai.
She says she found the issues raised about preferential press coverage of the two young women a valid point. The good outcome was that people from the different communities began having conversations with one another.
