Mokotedi needs more than hearsay to prove murder conspiracy against McBride

Gauteng Hawks boss Prince Mokotedi says he has opened a criminal case against Independent Police Investigative Directorate (Ipid) head Robert McBride, former Hawks boss Shadrack Sibiya and private investigator Paul O’Sullivan, accusing them of plotting to assassinate him and his boss Berning Ntlemeza.

EWN reporter Barry Bateman says Mokotedi said that the Hawks, Crime Intelligence, State Security Agency have been investigating monitoring McBride and his co-accused since March this year and on Monday a source told him of a meeting that took place in December last year.

According to Bateman, McBride suggested that Mokotedi take a lie detector test live on TV to prove that he is telling the truth.

What is really going to make a difference is whether the claims made by Mokotedi can be scrutinised subject to cross examination scrutiny within the courts.

Barry Bateman, EWN reporter

This is the head of the Hawks in Gauteng who has opened up a case of treason and a conspiracy to commit murder... he is relying on hearsay information to make a very serious allegation of treason.

Barry Bateman, EWN reporter

He is going to have to have more than that if he is going to be taken any seriously beyond the statement he has made in this affidavit.
