He explains that new users get a free week-long trial, and will pay $2.99 (or around R40) a month for the first six months.
The service will cost subscribers $5.99 (around R80) a month thereafter.
Competitors Netflix cost from R80 and ShowMax cost R100 a month.
He says, much like Netflix, Amazon now makes its own content.
Amazon is creating exclusive programming content in the hopes that users will pay a nominal fee for quality and custom shows, over pirating shows.
Wilson believes that Amazon Prime Video may be used in addition to other streaming service subscriptions currently held by households.
