Aleppo evacuation sees delays amid truce

Syrian civilians are expected to evacuate from Aleppo after a ceasefire agreement was reached, but no people have yet evacuated.

Government forces won a four-year-long battle with rebels and a ceasefire was brokered to have those trapped in the east evacuated.

There doesn't seem to be any kind of evacuation happening. There are buses there waiting, but no one has come forward.

Paula Slier, EWN's middle east correspondent

EWN's middle east correspondent Paula Slier reports that the evacuation of rebel-held eastern Aleppo would see rebels and between 50 000 to 100 000 civilians exit the region.

But it's understood that civilians fear that government forces will arrest or kill them if they emerge.
