Muthambi pushed for Motsoeneng appointment despite PP report - ex board member

Former SABC board Rachel Kalidass says Communications Minister Faith Muthambi unduly interfered to make sure that Hlaudi Motsoeneng was appointed as chief operations officer.

She told Parliament ad hoc committee looking into SABC board fitness that the minister was in the building when board members were summoned to a meeting in July 2014, and told they may not leave until the COO was appointed.

After that board meeting, which Kalidass said went on until 11 at night, because the chair insisted they won't leave until there is a decision on COO. Hlaudi Motsoeneng was appointed.

Kalidaass told Members of Parliament that this was all part of the plot to loot the public broadcaster.
