Independent Police Investigative Directorate (Ipid) has confirmed its head Robert McBride will not present himself to the Hawks despite being ordered to provide a warning statement by Monday.
The investigation relates to two incidents which occurred during his term as the Ekurhuleni Metro Police chief.
According to EWN reporter, Clement Manyathela, the first case relates to how police handled an alleged attempted murder case in Boksburg under McBride's watch as EMPD chief.
Second matter involves BMW X5 which was reported stolen but later retrieved by the Metro, and was allegedly used by police officers in covert operations.— Clement Manyathela, EWN reporter
These are two separate incidents that happened nearly a decade ago. Hawks have confirmed that they are probing these incidents.— Clement Manyathela, EWN reporter
Ipid has not explained why McBride hasn't presented himself to the Hawks.
Hawks have been unable to explain why they are only investigating these incidents now when there is this sort of cloud around police minister and Robert McBride.— Clement Manyathela, EWN reporter
