Saldanha Bay Municipality denies restricting beach access

Saldanha Bay Municipality says residential cards were issued at the request of home owners living near the beachfront to prohibit people not staying in the area from parking on the street.

The Municipality says no one is restricted from entering the beach.

ANC in the area lashed the DA-led municipality saying residential cards are similar to the dompas apartheid system.

EWN reporter Ilze Marie Le Roux says Saldanha Bay Municipality Mayor Marius Koen has provided explanation on the matter.

He said no one is blocked from going to the beach, or using the beach.

He said it's about 15 houses or less on the streets they have blocked, but he said it's not a far walk at all.
