Pikitup urges residents not to give its employees Christmas gifts

Pikitup has urged Johannesburg residents to refrain from giving Christmas donations to Pikitup employees.

Pikitup spokesperson, Bulelwa Zimba, says this is to ensure the safety of residents who have been robbed by criminals posing as Pikitup workers.

She says there are also people who pretend to be Pikitup employees and harass people demanding gifts.

In the last week, we have identified that some of our employees are involved.

Though she says it is believed very few Pikitup workers are involved.

We do understand that people want to give, but because of their safety, we urge them not to do it to anyone who claims to be a Pikitup employee.

She says ten people, including three Pikitup employees, have been arrested at the southern suburb of Johannesburg.
