Russian ambassador assassin shouts "remember Aleppo" then pulls the trigger

The fatal shooting of Russian ambassador, Andrei Karlov, at the opening of an art exhibition in Ankara by a Turkish policeman has been met with shock across the world.

Monday evening's assassination of the 62-year-old has been seen as backlash from Russia's involvement in the ongoing Syrian civil war.

According to the United Nations, more than 280 000 lives have been lost [including civilians] since the start of the war over four years ago.

He was off-duty, he went to work and told them he had a heart problem and so didn't report for duty. He knew there was an art exhibition taking place in Ankara.
