Syrian authorities says 20 000 civilians have been evacuated from Aleppo and bombs have stopped falling in the eastern region of the city.
In addition to the overall trauma of the experience, Gift of the Givers founder Dr. Imtiaz Sooliman says its has begun to snow and the extreme weather conditions will make it more difficult to find new shelter for many.
According to Sooliman, the humanitarian group has so far seen the first 20 patients in their hospitals and received their first 150 refugees who have been placed in homes.
The Gift of the Givers is erecting more tents, providing blankets and food supplies to assist refugees.
The organisation has been operating in Syria since 2012 providing refugee camps, mobile clinics, trauma clinics and primary care centre, mortuary, feeding centre and food distributions.
We run two of the biggest medical facilities in the whole of north Syria, simply because most of the other hospitals have been bombed.— Dr. Imtiaz Sooliman, Gift of the Givers founder
