8% private school fee hike in 2017

The National Governing Body Foundation has announced that private school fees are likely to hike by up to 8% across the board in 2017.

National Governing Body Foundation CEO, Tim Gordon, says people need to understand that there are three major expenditures for school, over which they have no control.

  1. Salaries - set in bargaining chambers where governing bodies have no representation.

  2. Administered costs - such as electricity, water, refusal and other municipal services.

  3. Maintenance of buildings - buildings belong to the State, but as part of the agreement with the State, governing bodies accepted it as their duty to maintain buildings in a good state.
