Former Springbok captain Corne Krige says there are several reasons behind the concerning state of South African Rugby.

He says the main drawback, however, is that the sport is financed and backed by the wrong people.

There's a lot going on but I think that the biggest problem is that the structures of SA Rugby are wrong.

SA Rugby's decision to make franchises available at 75% shareholding is a step in the right direction, says Krige.

He's adamant that the success of rugby needs to achieved both off and on the field.

When businessmen get involved and its all about money, they'll put the right people in place and not have amateurs running multi-million rand business.
