Suspect shot dead while on the run after Berlin Christmas market attack

Tunisian fugitive Anis Amri has been shot dead in a shoot out with police, according to reports.

Amri was identified as the key suspect in the Berlin Christmas market attack, reports EWN's UK correspondent Peter Anderson.

It appears the suspect traveled from Berlin, Germany, across the border via the train into Milan, Italy, before being confronted by authorities.

According to Italian police, there is no doubt that the dead man is the suspect Anis Amri.

It's alleged Amri drove a truck into a Berlin Christmas market on Monday, killing 12 people.

His ability to evade authorities so easily, has raised concerns about Europe's porous borders.
