Solar power is 90% cheaper than it was 20 years ago - analyst

Energy analyst and director at QED Solutions, Dirk de Vos, says solar power is becoming cheap enough to become a significant contributor on an aggregated basis.

De Vos says the trend shows that historically solar power is 90% cheaper than it was 20 years ago.

Bloomberg reports that countries from Chile to the United Arab Emirates broke records with deals to generate electricity from solar panels for less than 3 cents a kilowatt-hour in 2016.
