SA's matric whiz Conrad Strydom thanks school for support

Hermanus High School has congratulated its matriculant Conrad Strydom for becoming South Africa's overall top achiever in 2016 and he has thanked his educators in return.

Strydom's overall average was 98% and his headmaster Greg Hassenkamp says the announcement comes as a pleasant surprise.

We always new that Conrad had a chance to be in the top 10 on the merit list. We never knew where he was going to finish up, we're just extremely chuffed that he finished up top of the pile. Well done to him.

Greg Hassenkamp, Headmaster at Hermanus High School

While the matric pupil says the announcement was unexpected, he says he has always strived towards achieving stellar results with the help of his teachers.

I've always hoped to achieve excellent results and worked for them through my time at school... I'd like to acknowledge the dedication of all teachers at Hermanus High School.
