Matric Results 2016

Matric pass rate jumps 20% at Crossroads school

A high school in Crossroads, bordering Nyanga township, has been acknowledged for the significant improvement of its matric pass rate.

New Eisleben High School saw a dramatic increase in the matric pass rate from 47% last year to 67%.

Western Cape education MEC Debbie Schäfer visited the school on Thursday as 2016 matric results were handed out.

EWN's Monique Mortlock reports that 216 matrics wrote the national senior certificate (NSC) examinations.

She says at least 100 pupils were present at the school today, many overwhelmed with emotion and some even collapsing with joy.
