Bad blood between Gordhan and Moyane deeply concerning - DA

In a series of written answers to questions in Parliament by the DA, Finance Minister Pravin Gordhan expressed concerns about the stewardship of the South African Revenue Service (SARS) under commissioner Tom Moyane.

In his reply Gordhan highlighted a number of Moyane’s failures.

DA Shadow Deputy Minister of Finance, Alf Lees, says although this is not new, it is concerning that nothing is been done to improve the situation.

We continually get reports as responses to questions where the Minister repeats what he said before about the breakdown in their relationship.

Sars is the fuel that's running the country. They have to collect all revenue and have to do it efficiently and tax payers like you and I have to feel comfortable that they are doing this in a way that is transparent and completely above board.

Alf Lees, DA's Shadow Deputy Minister of Finance

Last year President Jacob Zuma made a promise to fix the relationship between Gordhan and Moyane. However, according to Lees there is no evidence that the President has done or doing anything about the situation.
