The Competition Commission says they will be intensifying efforts to look into exclusive arrangements between uniform suppliers and school management.
This follows recent complaints by parents saying they are grossly overcharged for uniforms.
Deputy Commissioner, Hardin Ratshisusu, says this is something in which they have tried to intervene before and a circular was sent out to schools by the Department of Basic Education stating all the necessary steps to be taken by schools in this regard.

What is important is to ensure that whatever it is that the school decides on in terms of designs, should not negatively affect parents and pupils.— Hardin Ratshisusu, Deputy Commissioner
They should allow the parents to source uniforms from general dealers by using the material that is easily accessible.— Hardin Ratshisusu, Deputy Commissioner
