ANCWL announced presidential preference not nomination - Mantashe

African National Congress (ANC) Secretary General Gwede Mantashe says the party is happy with the turnout of supporters to its 105 birthday celebrations at Orlando Stadium yesterday.

Mantashe says the ANC is committed to fighting corruption.

Asked why President Jacob Zuma did not mention the implementation of lifestyle audits in fighting corruption as mentioned by Deputy President Cyril Ramaphosa and other ANC leaders, Mantashe says the NEC statement did not require Zuma to make that comment.

The President was not presenting the speech, he was presenting the NEC statement to the nation.

Mantashe also commented on the ANC Women's League decision to put the name of Nkosazana Dlamini-Zuma to run for presidency of the ANC.

He says the party is currently engaging branches of the ANC on principles of leadership secession.

We know that more than 90% of delegates to the conference will be from the branches.
