Chance in a lifetime for UCT opera singer to audition in France

Opera singer & vocal student at UCT, Ipeleng Kgatla, will be traveling to France to audition for the prestigious Academie de Paris's young artist studio program.

Talking to CapeTalk's Kieno Kammies, Ipeleng says her trip to France was funded by fellow South Africans through Twitter. Her crowdfunding initiative on social media has enabled her to pay for her flight and accommodation.

The program begins in October 2017 and serves as an internship for aspirant opera singers.

This is a dream come true, she says, and if all goes well, she will be based in France, studying opera.
