The rules on gap cover are changing

Most hospital plans do not fully cover you when you’re hospitalised.

Your medical aid limits its cover to the Medical Scheme Tariff (MST) which invariably falls way short of what doctors and/or specialists typically charge.

For a fraction of your monthly medical scheme premium, gap cover will ensure that you are not left out of pocket.

Now, the rules on gap cover are changing.

The Money Show’s Bruce Whitfield interviewed Paresh Prema (Head of benefits management at Council for Medical Schemes) for his weekly “The Science Of” feature.

Listen to the interview in the audio below (and/or scroll down for more quotes from it).

The feeling was that gap cover harms medical schemes.
