Self-professed #DeadPose creator says he did it for the fame

In the latest South African internet fad, people are being photographed while pretending to be dead before posting the images online under the hashtag #DeadPose.

The social media trend has been met with mixed reactions, with many condemning its morbid nature.

Soshanguve teenager Karabo Mnisi (18) is reported to have started the trend and has come to its defense.

Mnisi says the trend is about having fun, adding that people who are offended share different views to him.

We don't believe alike and we don't like the same things so I don't expect people to understand it.

He admits to being proud of the trend, which he says is purely in the pursuit of fame.

I am a Facebook famous person so I focus more on getting followers and attention.

Meanwhile, several callers have deemed it distasteful as it could be a traumatic trigger for others on social media.

I feel like the trend itself is in bad taste... I'm not behind the trend at all.
