Department of Water and Sanitation says it will review the status of water restrictions to municipalities around May this year.
Spokesperson, Sputnick Ratau, says the Vaal Dam has improved, and now stands at 52.8% following good summer rains.
The department says even though cities of Johannesburg, Tshwane and Ekurhuleni have met their targets of reducing water usage by 15%, it can only begin the reviews in May when the raining season comes to an end.
