13 January 2017 12:39 PM

Former board chairperson, Dr Ben Ngubane, defended Hlaudi Motsoeneng to MPs, reports EWN's Gaye Davis.

The Parliamentary ad hoc committee looking into the SABC board to hold office resumed on Friday.

Former board chairperson Ben Ngubane and Ellen Tshabalala will both appear before the Members of Parliament.

EWN reporter Gaye Davis says the mood was very tense at the start.

She says Dr Ngubane defended Motsoeneng saying he was a street kid without a matric but was very smart. He provided details of the impact Motsoeneng had had at the SABC.

MP's grilled Ngubane on other matters including his relationship with the Guptas and the New Age deal.

Ngubane told the MP's that Motsoeneng didn't cause any damage at the SABC.
