Sisi Thandi was like a mother to me - Mara Louw's tribute to Thandi Klaasen

Tributes continue to pour in for South African jazz musician from Sophiatown, Thandi Klaasen.

The jazz legend died on Sunday at the age of 86 after battling pancreatic cancer.

Singer and actress Mara Louw fondly remembered Klaasen, who she says was her pillar of strength with a wonderful sense of humor.

She inspired me and encouraged me. She always had kind words and building words to say to me every time we performed together. She was like a mother to me. She was like book of information when it comes to art. She taught me everything that I know.

I feel sad, but I want celebrate her life.

Sisi Thandi sometimes used to say, you know Mara maybe you and I are related. And she would start telling me about people who are my family. She knew most people in my family. She even knew my great grandmother.
