Must-read book titles dropping in 2017

There's a lot to look forward to this year, including the publishing of new South African literature.

Author and publisher Melinda Furguson is looking forward to these titles the most:

  • Being Chris Hani's Daughter written by Melinda with Lindiwe Hani (April 2017)
  • Son/Sean by debut author Neil Sonnekus (March 2017)
  • Reflecting rogue (draft title) by Pumla Dineo Gqola (August 2017)

Publisher Thabiso Mahlape also has some exciting books under Blackbird Books, due in the first half of 2017:

  • It’s Me Marah: Marah Louw by Mara Louw
  • Miss Behave by Malebo Sephodi
  • The Last Stop by Thabiso Mofokeng
  • If I stay Right Here by debut novel Chwayita Ngamlana
  • Three Broken Tents by Mphuthumi Ntabe
  • _Killing Karoline _by debut author Sara Jayne King (September 2017)

Pan Macmillan's Andrea Nattrass says the publisher will dropping at least 30 local titles this year, including:

  • The Park by Gail Schimmel (February 2017)
  • Free Association by Steven Boykey Sidley
  • Dikeledi (working title) by Achmat Dangor

Bradley Lutz says Jonathan Ball Publishers are proud of the forthcoming titles:

  • Hidden Figures by Margot Lee Shetterly (February 2017)
  • Afrikaner Odyssey by Martin Meredith (March 2017)
  • Ladders and Trampolines by Musa Kalenga (out)
