The Independent Police Investigative Directorate (Ipid) is investigating Acting National Police Commissioner Khomotso Phahlane for allegedly receiving money through corrupt means when he was head of forensic services.
Phahlane says he paid for his R80 0000 sound system at his house in Pretoria.
Phahlane says he instructed his bank to process the payment from his current account after he received the quotation from the supplier.
It's alleged that a supplier of chemicals used in forensic work transferred money to a supplier who installed the sound system at Phahlane's house.
The supplier was then, allegedly, awarded with a tender.
