Govt's UIF programme funds skills training to boost employability

The Unemployment Insurance Fund (UIF) is working towards creating and retaining jobs for the unemployed.

Through their labour activation programmes unit, the UIF partners with different training authorities to equip unemployed people with skills that will make them more employable.

UIF Commissioner Teboho Maruping explains that officials select people who have lost their jobs from their database and provide specialised skills training, while also identifying potential employment opportunities.

We identify opportunities where we know if we train people in certain skills they are most likely going to get jobs or re-employed.

Teboho Maruping, UIF Commissioner
