Standard Bank customers have been experiencing unauthorised debit order transactions of R79 that have been taken from accounts.
Some have managed to get the transaction reversed while others tried with no luck to get the bank to assist them.
Andre Jonker, Western Cape head of retail markets at Standard Bank apologised to customers and said the bank will do whatever it takes to resolve this matter.
We received calls from our customers who brought the matter to our attention and we are assisting them now with the reversal process.— Andre Jonker, Western Cape Head of Retail Markets at Standard Bank
Jonker says they are busy conducting investigations and so far they know that the debit orders were initiated by a marketing company that banks with FNB.
Some customers claimed that they were charged R22 for the reversal of the R79 transaction.
Standard Bank will not charge any customer for a successful reversal of a debit order.— Andre Jonker, Western Cape Head of Retail Markets at Standard Bank
