Sanral e-Toll test case to force people to pay to go ahead

A test case will soon be heard on whether people who have not paid their e-Toll bills can be forced to pay. South African National Roads Agency Limited (Sanral) will take on the anti-tolling group Outa in court.

Wayne Duvenhage, Chairperson of Opposition Undoing Tax Abuse (Outa) confirmed that the test case will continue.

He says the test case will not be against individuals but against representatives of these individuals. He says there are about 125 members who fall under Outa.

There are two elements to this, the technicality and the workability of the scheme. There are many flaws with the system which is why people get incorrect bills.

There is also a legal aspect. Was the bill introduced lawfully, was the due process followed, if not, why not?

If it didn't, then no one should be forced to e-Toll bills. They cannot do anything if it was introduced unlawfully.
