Shaka Sisulu denies being on ANC payroll, accuses Sihle Bolani of extortion

Activist and commentator Shaka Sisulu has denied being paid for leading an alleged covert campaign for the the ANC.

Sisulu has released a statement in which he accuses public relations expert Sihle Bolani of attempting to extort the ruling party.

Bolani claims that the ANC was running a R50 million covert campaign to target opposition parties during last year's local government elections.

Bolani went to court asking a judge to force the ANC to pay her for her role in what she said was a project to use social media to spread disinformation.

Other prominent Twitter personalities and ANC supporters have also spoken out, including Kay Sexwale.
