The Western Cape Health Department says it is investigating issues raised about the state of Bishop Lavis Day Hospital.
This comes after CapeTalk listener and Valhalla Park resident Belinda complained about the poor services at the health facility.
In particular, Belinda complained about overcrowding, slow dispensation of medicine at the pharmacy, poor hygiene and out of order toilets.
The department's Mark van der Heever explains the contributing factors to the high patient load and delayed pharmacy services.
Meanwhile, other listeners called in sharing their experiences at public hospitals across the Cape.
