The Wine Feature

Do you want to learn how to make wine? Here's your chance

Today on The Wine Feature, John has one spot to give away for a wine-making course.

This two-week full-time course is offered by the Meerendal Wine Acadamy and is valued at R10 000. It runs from 27 Febraury - 10 March 2017.

Lisa Goodwin is the Meerendal cellar master and she chats to John about the course.

She says mornings will be very hands on and practical.

In the mornings you will go to the vineyards where you will pick the grapes. Then you will bring the grapes in, and you will do hand sorting. After the hand sorting the grapes will be crushed and put into a tank.

Then the students will be taught how to prepare the yeast and inoculate the grapes, start fermentation process and monitor the entire process until the facilitation process is complete.

In the afternoons they will have courses where they are taught about wines of the world and wine-making in South Africa as well as a brandy-making course.
