Office of the Tax Ombud, CEO Advocate Eric Mkhawane, says there has been a rise in complaints about refund delays from the South African Revenue Service (Sars).
Xolani Gwala spoke to Mkhawane following a number of calls from listeners raising their concerns on tax refund delays.
Mkhawane says Sars is legally allowed to withhold refunds if they suspect something, but there is no legal basis if a taxpayer has complied with the process.
