National drought continues despite recent rains

Spokesman for the Department of Water and Sanitation, Sputnik Ratau, has confirmed that dam levels have risen slightly week on week but that some areas, including the Western Cape, are experiencing a decline in water reserves given it is a winter rainfall region.

All restrictions will remain unchanged at least until May so that better savings can be achieved.

People need to appreciate that we've been in a drought for the last two to three years.
