De Lille hangs up one hat to focus on the City

CapeTalk's Stephen Grootes challenged De Lille on her reason for resigning as leader of the DA in the Western Cape.

De Lille says those speculating are entitled to do so, but should not use their opinion to judge her. They should rather look to her two thirds majority and the changes she has implemented.

She claims she has not been pushed and has a clear record.

I want to give my full attention to bringing services to the most vulnerable and to redressing the legacy of apartheid. I can't do justice to both of the positions and so have decided to stand back.

Patricia de Lille, mayor of The City of Cape Town

If you have a position you must take on the responsibility it holds, not just take on the title of that position. I'm separating the two as I want to spend more time in the City of Cape Town.
