This Flag movement pastor arrested on return to Zimbabwe

Pastor Evan Mawarire of the #ThisFlag movement who led protests against the government in Zimbabwe last year, was arrested at the Harare airport upon arriving from the United States.

Mawirire was arrested before he even reached immigration. Police claimed to have an outstanding arrest warrant against him and he has been charged with subverting a constitutional government - the same charges that were imposed on him last year.

He and his family then left Zimbabwe last year.

He spent last night in a Harare police cell and is expected to appear in court in the next days.

His lawyers posted short video clips on Facebook of him sitting on a wooden bench from his Harare Central Police Station jail cell. In a voice recording, he said Harare will always be his home and he has done nothing wrong.
