African National Congress (ANC) spokesperson, Zizi Kodwa, says he does not think the ANC Women's League (ANCWL) would undermine the decision of the national working committee not to campaign for leadership succession.
Speaking at Faith Gospel Ministries Church in Khutsong under the theme 'Women in Leadership', ANCWL President Bathabile Dlamini said they are campaigning for an honest leader and that Nkosazana Dlamini-Zuma is a woman among women.
Dlamini said: "We are on a campaign and the NEC (national executive committee) said we should not campaign until the right time. But we will campaign for someone humble."
I don't think the statement was we are campaigning now as we meet.— Zizi Kodwa, ANC national spokesperson
We don't think the ANC Women's League would have that audacity to undermine the authority of the leadership of the ANC. We have in the past discussed these issues and they have agreed, that's why in her statement she starts by saying 'We have been told not to campaign'.— Zizi Kodwa, ANC national spokesperson
It's a very good statement from the Women's League. They are appreciating decisions taking by the national working committee which they are part of.— Zizi Kodwa, ANC national spokesperson
Kodwa says if there are issues to be resolved with the ANCWL, they will do so internally.
