Jackson Mthembu against deployment of 441 soldiers at #SONA2017

According to political analyst, Karima Brown, African National Congress (ANC) heavyweights in Parliament have distanced themselves from President Jacob's announcement of deploying 441 South African National Defence Force (SANDF) members to maintain 'law and order' in Parliament.

ANC Chief Whip, Jackson Mthembu, was against this decision, saying the role of soldiers is only ceremonial.

Speaker Baleka Mbete said she has nothing to do with what soldiers will do outside their usual ceremonial role.

And it was left to the Defence Minister to explain what they will do.
