Cape Wine Auction: The wine industry gives back this weekend

John Maytham's weekly wine feature focuses on the wine industry making a difference.

The Cape Wine Auction (CWA)kicked off in 2014 and has raised a substantial sum of money over the past few years.

This year's event is on the4 10th and 11th February at Anthonij Rupert Wyne.

Mike Ratcliffe of Warick Wine Estate is on the board of the CWA and joins John Maytham on the line to chat about the events and says they have raised close to R33 million.

We have put it to very good use...we focus exclusively on education in the Western Cape. That's what we do. Education is our raison d'être.

Mike Ratcliffe, CWA board

Pebbles Project, Mad Leadership Foundation, Community Keepers, Pinotage Youth Development are some of the projects they support.

None of the money raised during the two-day event is kept for administration purposes. Everything raised goes to the projects.

The very generous sponsors donate everything needed.
