Chamber of Mines South Africa president, Mike Teke, says black mining companies are trying to improve conditions and skills of employees.
Karima Brown talked to Teke following African Mining Indaba last week where Mineral Resources Minister Mosebenzi Zwane called for transformation in the industry to reduce inequality.
Teke says mines also need to be more socially responsible and benefit communities where they reside.
He says as the Chamber they will continue to ensure that communities benefit from mining companies and working conditions improve.
