WC schools want unabridged birth certificates for all new learners

The new move is to ensure that both the mother and the father can be contacted and held accountable for unpaid school fees.

Most schools are moving towards this and are within their rights to request this as part of the admissions process.

The measure, which has been met with resistance from many parents, will help those schools who struggle to recover school fees.

A lot of schools will accept normal birth certificates and proof that parents have applied for an unabridged birth certificate. It should perhaps be something done across all provinces.
