Yusuf Simons, WC Provincial Manager Home Affairs spoke to Kieno Kammies about how parents can obtain the unabridged birth certificate's for their children now required by schools.

He says the original paper birth records need to be retrieved and that can cause delays.
The department is beginning the process of digitising the old records, for those born prior to 2013.
Home Affairs do, however, have a process to get around this for parents in this dilemma.
We have an equivalent letter i place...where we acknowledge that you have applied. We also put in the full details of the mother and father in that letter, and it is the equivalent of the unabridged birth certificate.— Yusuf Simons, WC Provincial Manager Home Affairs
