Eek! Cape Town Mayor Patricia de Lille goes door-to-door to scold water-wasters

Cape Town Mayor Patricia de Lille on Thursday went door-to-door to deliver warnings to households in Cape Town with high water consumption.

According to De Lille, the City is stepping up its game against customers with high water consumption.

The plan is to make public the identities of water-wasters.

Meanwhile, CapeTalk’s John Maytham interviewed Anton Bredell, the MEC for Environmental Affairs.

Bredell discussed a little-known, yet alarming fact:

The province’s dams are even worse off than those of the City.

He also addressed accusations that authorities are not serious enough about raising awareness of just how dire the situation is.

If you can pay; keep your money and we’ll keep our water! We will cut you off!

Anton Bredell
