Delays to swear in Brian Molefe as MP, still no clarity - analyst

Former Eskom CEO, Brian Molefe, was not sworn in yesterday as expected because Parliamentary presiding officers had not set the date.

According to political analyst Karima Brown, two Members of Parliament were sworn in.

The controversy around Molefe's appointment as MP in the North West continues as three different ANC branches claimed to have him as a member, including Tshwane and Hartbeespoort in the North West.

There is no clarity on what the actual reasons are for the delay, after the initial explanation that he is on his way.

Meanwhile, Finance Minister Pravin Gordhan, will deliver the national budget speech in Parliament today.

You know last year during the budget speech, the Minister said the country needed to raise R30 billion over the next two years. In October in his medium-term budget, he revised that number to about R43 billion.
