South African Communist Party (SACP) in the North West has come out saying it was not consulted about the appointment of former Eskom CEO, Brian Molefe, as the Member of Parliament (MP) in the North West.
Molefe was sworn in as MP yesterday despite controversy as the African National Congress (ANC) branches in different provinces have claimed his membership.
Reports allege that President Jacob Zuma will do a Cabinet reshuffle and give Molefe a position in the Finance Ministry.
Molefe did not receive a warm welcome from opposition, Economic Freedom Fighters (EFF) MP Sipho Mbatha said: “On a point of order Speaker. Where is that corrupt bastard?"
Meanwhile, Health Minister Aaron Motsoaledi told MPs that he wants national government to be in charge of mental health to avoid another Esidimeni tragedy.
Motsoaledi was briefing Parliament on the progress of implementing the Health Ombudsman report into deaths of over a 100 psychiatric patients who died after being transferred to unlicensed organisations by Gauteng Health.
